Just another day

     I really need to stay up on this.  I've been trying to learn more about this blog thing.  I  just have to play around till I get something going I guess.  I've tried to make a few changes, not sure how it's going to work but we will see.  Enough of that...now on to other things.

     We did have another grandbaby.  She was born a month early, 5lbs and 4ozs.  Our daughter's blood pressure shot up and could not get it down, so they induced labor. She is about 6 weeks now and probably weights around 7lbs now.  They are both doing really good. 

      On a sad note though...my father-in-law is not doing well.  Last year he was being treated for leukemia.  He got better but then it came back again but he is having respitory problems.  He is at home now and hospice is there with them.  My husband will be flying up this week.  My father-in-law is a good man and the things that he could create with his hands, he loved wood working.  My husband has been going up to visit and hunt with his dad every year for about the last ten years or so...those are memories that he will always cherish.  So alway's cherish the times you have with family and friends...because you never know what tomorrow will bring...


      It's been busy but I have found a little time to be crafting.  I love watching Miranda, MsLiberty25

us, her creativity is beyond words...She made and altered dresser and it was just gorgeous!  I was in a thrift store one day and came across a little one, so I got it.  Then when I seen what she had made, I just had to try something in her style.  Miranda if you ever see this I hope it was okay. This is the front view, I used the Elegance paper from Recollections and also the Almanac line from Prima. 

This is the top, I used one of Tim Holtz dies (well actually several) and created sides for the top of it to make it look more like a shelf.  That is one of his clocks and you can see the film strip I used also.  And of course Wild Orchid Crafts flowers.  I'm running low, going to have to get more...awe...shopping...lol.

These are the side views.  Used another one of Tim Holtz dies and created the hanger for the keys.  I love the way it turned out.Then this is the back of it.  I worked on it for a little bit everyday for a

   Been a little busy lately, nothing exciting, just busy.  My son's over at my daughters for a few days, so I have a wee bit of time.  Thought I would add a few more pictures.  Hope you enjoy.

  I watched Paveena, myautumsunset, such a pretty name for a beautiful lady.  But anyway, I had watched her make one of these and wanted to try my hand at it.  I like the way they turned out.  Most of the things I used were from the dollar tree.

This one I tried to make my own lighthouse, not the best but I like it anyway.  For the fence I used Popsicle sticks and hot glued them into some styrofoam and then put the chain around it.  The netting is what you can get around Halloween time.

 This one I used one of those little pots from the Dollar Tree (one of my favorite stores, I tell you what!).  I used the Tim Holtz "Lost and Found" paper and collaged them on after cutting some out.  The clock face is on a poker chip with some chain around it, and emossed it with Utee.  Clothes pin on a bamboo stick and then a calender I had printed out, I believe I got it from, About.com  I believe that was the sight I got it from.  Used distress inks on them and then put something from the paper line on the back of them.  Then of course the flowers are from WOC and then also some wooden beads I had.  I thought it turned out kinda cute.

   This is a canvas I had done awhile back.  I painted it silver then put black paint down and wiped it right away to tone it down a little bit.  The music paper on it is actually a file folder I had gotten from Tuesday Mornings.   I distressed it then used black soot around it and a little bit here and a little bit there.  Some bling on it and then I used the tiny gears die painted then distressed the heck out of them and attached some chain to them.  There is a heart charm I made hanging inside the birdcage and then some chain with some beads hanging down from it.  The corners are made from the metal tape, Embossed them then put black paint on it wiped it right away.  WOC flowers in the corner.  I think this one is one of my favorites at the moment.

   Just a flower I made.

   This is a cigar box I had made for a swap over at Creating the Crafty Life.  I created the picture using the Steampunk book I got from Dover Publications.  On the inside I used a stamp from Stampers Best.  I love their stamps.

   This is another box I made for a swap.  The bling I got from Misty at her zibbet store.  I used DCWV paper, Le Tres Chic Stack.  That paper line is so pretty.  I fussy cut out the Eiffle Tower, some butterflies and I think the flowers too.  The flowers are from WOC and then a few from the Dollar Tree that I had taken apart.  That is a butterfly I had gotten at the flea market, along with the lace I used to make the flower.  She was happy with it.

This is a frame I made for another swap.  I used my cricut and cut out a stencil for the trellis and then had my husband cut it out of wood on the scroll saw, I was gonna do it but he said he would.  Some bling, some WOC flowers and some butterflies.  Put rick rack trailing up the trellis.  This isn't a very good picture of it, but it did turn out nice.

   Can ya tell I do love Wild Orchid Crafts flowers.  Just one day I decided to break down and order me some...haven't looked back yet.  They are the prettiest flowers out there, and the service is so nice and fast too for being overseas.  If ya haven't checked them out yet you really should.

  Well, getting late in the evening again, trying to finish up another project.  Ya'll have a good one...as I say at work.

   I had such a glorious day today that I just had to share it with all of you. Usually when I go to a table and if they are in prayer I hold back before going up to them out of respect. Well, today I was holding back, but this gentlemen waved for me to go ahead and approach them. When I did he said "and bless our server". Let me tell you that just made my day. To know that their are still some good people out here that's just a good feeling to have. In all my thirty something years waiting tables that was a first for me...and it really and truely Blessed my day. This evening I had a fantastic conversation with my grandson, Brandon for this I thank you! I am very proud of you and you are still the apple of my eye. With all of this said I just want to Bless everyone of you and for the Good Lord to send His angels among us.

PS He must have something special coming our way cause the enemy sure has tried his best to stop me from posting this. But with our Lord all things are possible!

   It's getting late, but I want to try to put up a few more pictures of some of the things I've been up too.

  I had been watching videos of all the butterflies everyone had been making and I wanted to have a go at it.  The first two are my steampunk style and I guess the last one is like shabby chic.  On the top one in the top corner, I made that flower out of a pepsi can.  Used my tattered flower die and spray painted it, I liked the way it turned out.  After I cut out the dies I used a texture hammer on them then painted them.  And of course there is chain all the way around it.

This is a key holder I made for someone I work with.  One of my favorite stores is none other than the Dollar Tree.  This was one of the cutting boards they had.  I painted it gold I believe then used the crackle on it and then painted over it with a cream color.  The paper is from DCWV, I believe it is the tattered time line.  Printed out a clock face, put it on a poker chip then embossed it with utee.  I watched Charmfuls Delights channel, she does alot with the poker chips.  You should go check her out.  I made a bead spray to put on it and of course, no project would be complete without Wild Orchid Crafts flowers.

  Yep! It's me, I'm back...I know it's been awhile.  Been a little bit of this and a lot of that, and an awful lot of being tired.  Sometimes at my age and working a full time job and still raising a very active 8 yr old boy can just drain you.  But I wouldn't change any of that...the good Lord blessed us with a son late in life and let me tell you he is the joy of our lives.  I always tell him he rocks my world!  And I've been waiting tables for over thirty years, so I must love it.  Been at the same place for almost 18 years now and I really do love my job.  I work in a truck stop, I get to meet people from all over the country and other countries too.  Not to mention some of the famous people that have come through our place.  Having a fantastic boss and co workers is always a bonus!

  Well, enough of that chit chat...on to other things...

  I have met a wonderful friend out here in cyber space.  I just asked my daughter if that is what they still call it and she said what, she never heard that before.  Guess I'm from the stone age...lol...I thought they did at one time.  Well anyway as I was saying I have met an awesome friend on here.  Terrie, I want to thank you so much!  She is http://1craftycookie.blogspot.com  she also has a you tube channel.  She is an awesome person,  she has a very big heart.  She makes some of the prettiest cards I've seen, and she loves to alter things.  Terrie, you are my first follower and I thank you for that.  You have also given me encouragement to get back out here on my blog and get this going again.  

  I'm a member over at Creating the crafty life, I did get over a little bit of  shyness and joined a few of the swaps.  I love doing them, they are really fun.  I love altering things especially the cigar boxes.  And I've learned so much from all the talented and creative people out here.  They are all just a great bunch of people and all unique in there own way. 

 

 These are some tags I made for one of the swaps I was in.  The red one holds stick pins.  I watched Kimberly, she's berlykim37 on you tube.  She has some good tutorials.  I loved the way the stick pin holder turned out.

  This is the cigar box I made to go with it.  I used Graphic 45 Le Romantique, Wild Orchid Crafts flowers.  I also crocheted some little flowers and hearts to go around it. 

  That's gonna have to be it for the evening, between everything else it has taken me all evening to get this little bit done.

     Halloween birdcage

     This was my first video I made.  I made the birdcage last weekend.  Had to have my daughter help me to upload it.  Most of the supplies I used were from the dollar tree.  Hope you enjoy.  Thank you.

     I use to love watching Carol Duvall when she was on tv.  I use to tape her shows, especially at Christmas time.  She always had some very talented guests on her show also.  I believe that is where I first seen and heard of Tim Holtz...and look at him now!  He is a great artist, the first thing I ever got that he came out with was the vintage photo distress ink.  That was some years ago, I've gotten several more things by him since then. 
     These are some frames I've made.



The rose I made with the tattered flowers die, I used a soda can then spray painted it with copper hammered.  You see the flower holder on this last one...a cigar came in it.  Ya know what they say, one mans trash is another mans treasure.  I came across it at work and said I was going to make something with this.  One of them looked at me and thought I was crazy.  So I told him, okay, I'm gonna make something with it and your gonna give it to your grandmother.  I used the bead gel medium on it, the butterflies I cut out of the Mariposa papers as is the background paper.  I outlined it with the beads.  The flower, I'm afraid would have to be one of the dorky sides.  Just couldn't get it right, oh well she was happy with it.

     Hello!  It's me again, I'm back.  Sometimes it's hard for me, cause I work a full time job and am still raising our youngest.  I'm a CSR,  ya know a server...oh heck that's a glorified name for an old fashioned waitress.  I must love it though, cause I've been doing it for almost 33 year's now.  I work in a big old truck stop now and let me tell you it ain't  nothing like working in a regular restaurant.  I've been at the same place for around 16 year's, minus the three years I decided to stay home with our youngest.  I just love working there, I wouldn't trade job's with anyone! 
     Then there is our son.  I was 45 when we had him, he was prophesied by a dear minister friend of mine four year's before he came along.  He has been such a blessing in our lives, and he is 100% all boy and keeps us on our toes at all times.  And smart, let me tell you the little stinker is only in the 2nd grade and has a reading level from a 3.1 to a 4.7 he does better than I did that's for sure!
    Now, on to some other thing's.

    
     I guess you could call this my dorky side...let's be honest everyone has one!  I call this "Get the Point".  It's done in what you would call 3D.  I've done it on a canvas, I drew "her" out first then cut out the hair, eye's,  eyebrow's, lip's and ear's.  Then I used Tim Holtz distress inks, (just gotta love the man) then decoupaged it all down, used fake eyelashes on the eye's.  That's a resin piece I made for her earring, then a butterfly I made from watching "My ScrapWorld's" channel on you tube.  She makes some really beautiful thing's, you should check her out.  Those are some stamps I carved out of the big erasers you can get from the Dollar Tree...outside of Wally World that has got to be my number 1 store.

     These are just a couple I did a few year's back, did them with colored pencils.  Had fun doing them, sometimes it's just fun to be a dork!

All new to me

     This is all new to me.  But I'm willing to give anything a shot at least once.  So please be patient with me as I learn this blog thing. 
      Let me tell you a little bit about myself.  My name is Peggy, I have lived in the SunShine state most of my life.  I have been married to a wonderful man for 23 years now.  We have five kids ranging from 33yrs all the way down to 7yrs.  We have 8 super grandchildren.  Actually the one who is a senior now is the one who told me how to put a post up.
     I love to craft!!  I dabble in a few different kind's.  I just love to stay busy with my hand's.  Paper crafting, crochet, beading just to name a few thing's.  I've been doing thing's off and on for as long as I can remember.  I think what started it was sewing some of my own clothes when I was in school.  I could sit down at my sewing machine and just forget everything else around me...be in my own little world. 
     I have a you tube page (I guess that's what it is), nothing really there.  I thought in order to watch them you had to sign in, dummy on my part I guess.  I'de like to start it up sometime, don't know for sure yet how to go about it.  Oh well, maybe someday.  Anyway, I just love to look and watch some of you talented crafty people out here.  I have learned so much from all of you.  And the people in the crafty world are some of the nicest people I have ever encountered.
     I will put some pictures up of some of the thing's that I have made.  I would also like some feed back on what you think.  If no one comes to visit, that's fine.  At least I can say I gave this thing a shot.
